Mrs. DanGarion and I took a trip to Slater’s 50/50 in Anaheim recently for some burgers and see if they are still making as good of burgers as always. It was kickoff night for the NFL and all the TVs were tuned to the Cowboys vs. Giants game, but that didn’t stop the burgers from being cooked!
Mrs. DanGarion kept it simple with a 1/3 pound beef patty on white brioche, garlic aioli, grilled onions, and tomatoes. She enjoyed it and liked the simple burger pleasure.
I went with their burger of the month, the Big Bad BBQ Burger, a mixed chuck, pork shoulder, and bacon patty, with rub, coleslaw, red onions, colby jack, 4 strips of bacon, and BBQ sauce. The burger was ok, but it could have used a couple tweaks. The patty was way too dense and probably would have been better with just a normal beef patty, also the bacon was a bit overcooked for me.
In addition to our burgers we went with a pick two of french fries and artichoke hearts. The fries are served with bacon infused ketchup, unfortunately it tastes more like bacon bit infused ketchup and we both agreed it wasn’t that tasty. The sage mayo served with the artichoke was a spot on pairing though.
Overall our meal was ok, but it would have been better with the tweaks on the burger of the month. We still plan to visit Slater’s 50/50 on occasion.
