Last week I was sent to Austin, Texas on my companies dime to do my day job (I’m an instructor) so while I was in Austin I made it to a number of celebrated and lesser known restaurants in and around the area. You may remember that when I was in Austin in 2010 I visited the amazing Black’s Barbecue in Lockhart, TX. On Sunday evening after arriving in Austin and picking up my rental car I headed 30 minutes South down highway 183 to Lockhart, Texas to savor Black’s Barbecue once again.
I ordered a two meat plate with their delicious sausage and an awesome juicy cut of beef brisket, along with sides of cole slaw, macaroni and cheese, a deviled egg, and corn bread. the food was as good as I remember it, and the brisket was the best I had out of the 5 BBQ restaurants I visited during the week. The sides were solid accompaniments to the meat not just afterthoughts as they are at some other restaurants.
Stay tuned for more food and pictures of my visit to Austin, Texas!
