Orange, California Restaurant Reviews

Anepalco’s Cafe – Orange

After hearing a number of good things about Anepalco’s Cafe in Orange I made my way down there and ended up eating breakfast there for 3 of the past Saturday mornings. Each visit I tried a new breakfast dish.

On my first visit I tried the Anepalco’s Chilaquiles which was a beautifully presented stack of lightly fried corn tortillas sitting in a pool of amazing red sauce topped with a folded egg. Out of all my visits to Anepalco’s Cafe this dish is a true winner and what Mexican breakfast can really be.

On visit number two the waiter suggested I try the Huevos Divorciados, which I think translates to divorced eggs. One egg in green and one egg red sauce.

For my third visit I changed it up and decided to try a Tortilla Andorra La Vella (tortilla omelette) which isn’t at all a tortilla, it was a very delicate omelette with goat cheese, Spanish chorizo, and onion. A very light dish packed with the strong flavors of the cheese and chorizo. Served with toast and roasted potatoes on the side. I loved their red sauce so much I asked for some on the side to mix with my potato.

I’m really happy to have a place like Anepalco’s nearby, they make quality breakfast dishes at very reasonable prices (typically $6-8) and the waiter that works Saturday mornings is very nice and attentive. If you haven’t visited them already I suggest to check them out.

Since tastes and quality can change if you are looking for another opinion check out my friend Griffin’s review where Anepalco’s Cafe failed to impress back in 2009.
