We are starting a new feature here at Eat in OC with our visit to Viva Mexico in Orange.

I will be featuring various Mexican Restaurants that serve breakfast in the city of Orange.  Last week I noticed there aremany Mexican restaurants I’ve yet to visit in Orange on and I thought it would make a great Eat in OC feature to visit them all for breakfast.  Starting from the 55 freeway heading East of Chapman I first found Taqueria Janitzio, on the SE corner of Chapman and Yorba in Orange, unfortunately they are not open for breakfast on Saturday mornings!

I continued on my trek East on Chapman to discover Viva Mexico on the SW corner of Chapman and James.  I’m not sure if Viva Mexico is a chain or not, but I remember their being a Viva Mexico in Stanton on Beach Blvd. near Katella about 15 years ago that I would frequent when I used to live and work in the area, and another at Euclid and Katella as well.  The waitress told me she didn’t know if the owners had owned those, but they do have another restaurant further East on Chapman, so I guess I’ll have breakfast there too, as long as they are open on Saturdays.

I ordered Huevos con Chorizo ($6.95), which is one of my standby Mexican style breakfasts.  They served chips with beans before my meal came out, with cotija cheese sprinkled on in.  It was a good way of letting me try out their red chile salsa that I really enjoyed the flavor of.

My Huevos con Chorizo was a big portion of eggs mix with chorizo, along with sides of rice and beans.  The sausage was not greasy, a very big plus, but I’d say the flavor was just average.  The beans were a bit on the salty side, but just the right consistency, while the rice was nice and fresh tasting.  An overall average meal that satisfied my appetite for breakfast.
