You might have noticed I add my blog reviews to Urbanspoon, along with that I like to follow other people’s reviews to see if they match with my feelings of the restaurants I visit. I decided to check and see how the reviews of Kimmie’s Coffee Cup in Orange have come along since my visits (I originally had given them a good review, but then revised it after an experience there a week later) I had back in September and I came across some fishy looking reviews. Up until the end of September there had been no reviews on Urbanspoon for Kimmie’s, but then all the sudden on September 30th there are two glowing reviews by new members (Sarah and Jon) on Urbanspoon. Since then the two reviewers haven’t done anything else on Urbanspoon, so either it’s a complete coincidence and they both posted on the same day and never again, they are friends and posted and never did any other reviews, or someone has padded the reviews. I’d even go as far to say that the third review by “AngelaCaruso” is suspect as well, since it has the same type of pattern of drive by review. The reviews on Yelp seem more honest and true to what I’ve heard and see with my own ears and eyes
I’ve contacted Urbanspoon to see if there is any funny business going on, I’m not accusing anyone of any wrong doing, but there does seem to be something going on. For all I know the owners of Kimmie’s might not even know about this.
I’m going to direct this to any business owner, let the real reviews speak for themselves. If your service is crappy, fix it. If you food is bad, fix it. And if you can’t do that, then close shop, I’m sure someone else can do a better job then you.
