Cystic fibrosis is an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 30,000 children and adults in the United States (70,000 worldwide). The average life expectancy of someone with CF is 37, up from age 18 nearly 25 years ago. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is committed developing therapies that will extend and enhance the lives of those with cystic fibrosis and ultimately to find a cure or control for CF.
“Giving back to the community is just as much a part of our business plan as slow cooking, high quality ingredients and friendly service,” said Tim DeCinces, president and CEO of Beach Pit BBQ. “We are excited to be able to help the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and look forward to serving up lots of chili cheese fries for a great cause. Every day we all have an opportunity to make a difference in our community and Beach Pit BBQ is looking forward to making a difference in the fight for a cure for CF.”
As a baseball player, DeCinces traveled extensively throughout the country, particularly the South and discovered the culinary goodness of Southern BBQ. He longed to bring that great taste and warm hospitality back to his native southern California. Beach Pit BBQ opened its first location more than five years ago and today has six locations throughout Orange County.
With a philosophy of “Southern Smoke, Cali Style,” Beach Pit BBQ first introduced its authentic Southern-style BBQ to Southern California five years ago. In a casual atmosphere, Beach Pit serves quality meats cooked long and slow with indirect heat using a special blend of hickory and pecan woods that add a smoky flavor and makes the chicken, turkey, brisket, ribs and pulled pork mouthwatering tender. Beach Pit BBQ adds a touch of California style to its menu that offers something for everyone. Beach Pit’s menu features a variety of BBQ, Southern sides including cornbread, green beans, fried okra, catfish nuggets, hushpuppies and fried pickles, and lighter California alternatives including salads and sandwiches.
