Yesterday while at the Orange International Street Fair, we also stopped by the newly opened Haven Gastropub located in Old Towne Orange. Out of everything we did and had at the street fair, our visit to Haven was just about the top of the list.
I was really impressed at the service we received especially because of how busy they were because of the fair. We got prompt service and both the bartender that took care of us and the waitress that placed our food orders were top notch. On the drinks side, I’m really impressed by the beer menu, which consists of 14 beers on tap and in excess of 30 more in bottles, if you are a beer snob you’ll be taken care of, there isn’t any Bud or Coors here (which really is a good thing!) On the food side, they had a limited Street Fair menu consisting of 5 items, but they were all items they made made extremely well.
Our party got 2 orders of wings, someone ordered the salad they had, and last but not least one of my friends got an order of their fresh made potato chips. The buttermilk dipped wings were exceptional with the perfect breaded crisp and a really nice in house made BBQ sauce to dip on them. I didn’t have any of the salad (other then a taste of the cheese that was good) but everyone that tried it was raving about it. The order of potato chips were excellent as well, they came with a side of garlic aioli to dip them in and were hot out of the fryer. Haven Gastropub was a great middle of the fair experience and both me and everyone from our party was impressed. I was disappointed when I found out from the waitress that they were going to be closed on Monday because we had planned to take my parents there! But, I’m definitely looking forward to returning once they open up with their full menu on Tuesday, September 8th.
