Orange, California Restaurant Reviews

Early Bird – Fullerton

Who like’s breakfast? I DO! I Do! And so does Mrs. DanGarion, so when we had a free chance to check out Early Bird in Fullerton out I jumped on it and high tailed it to the hills of Fullerton in my bright blue F-150 chariot! For those of you that don’t have your ear to the ground on Orange County dinning news, Early Bird is the breakfast and lunch creation of Joseph Mahon of Burger Parlor fame. You may ask me, “Daniel, what happened to Burger Parlor!?!??!” And I would reply, “Well Joseph closed the pop up location and has been masterminding his way into opening an actual real to life Burger Parlor in Fullerton. As for Early Bird, I guess Joseph got bored and decided if he was opening one restaurant he might as well open two instead!” More talk about Burger Parlor will have to wait till it reopens later this month, because this post is dedicated to Early Bird and their tasty breakfast concoctions.

Early Bird’s promise to their customer’s is to bring honest, quality food to the citizens of North Orange County, and if the food that was brought to our table is any indication of what the rest of the menu brings, they are a restaurant of their word!

Mrs. DanGarion started off with a fresh glass of unfiltered apple juice which she enjoyed throughout her meal. She also worked on a fresh cup of their single origin coffee which she liked but said was quite strong.

I ordered the Bain’s Breakfast Sandwich (English Muffin, Sausage, Country Ham, Fried Egg, Red Eye Gravy) although I have to admit I did contemplate the Chilaquiles Steak and Eggs. My breakfast sandwich was tasty and the egg was cooked perfectly, the gravy was different than what I would usually make but went well with the offering. What I really want to talk about were the hash browns, they were some of the most perfect hashbrowns I’ve ever had, they really were perfect, and I enjoyed the broiled tomato.

Mrs. DanGarion went with the Open Faced “truffle egg” Sandwich (Grilled Sourdough, Country Ham, Field Lettuces, Parmesan, Oven Dried Tomato), for whatever reason this didn’t come with potatoes and a broiled tomato and I’m not exactly sure why. Either way she liked it but thought it would have been better without the lettuce, we aren’t really morning lettuce people so it always seems out of place.

Service was good and the prices were on par with other restaurants that serve quality ingredient type meals (don’t go in expecting the prices of Norm’s), but you are getting a meal with fresher, more genuine, and made with care.
