G Burger – La Habra

Mrs. DanGarion and I are always up for a great burger, so when the day after Christmas came and we ran around Orange County looking for deals on Christmas stuff for next year we became famished. With the lack of sustenance I suggested we check out this burger place I’ve seen advertised in OC Weekly called G Burger in La Habra. If you have ever seen their ad it’s the one where the burger looks over the top and has a knife stuck in it. Like the picture here that I took from their website.

The Official G Burger
The Official G Burger (picture from their website!)

What you see above is the official “G Burger” $14 gets you a burger made any way you like it; what I saw was basically people get two 1/2# patties with the works on top of it (Teriyaki Glazed Onions, or Mushrooms, Homemade Cole Slaw, Grilled Pineapple, Fried Egg, Pastrami, Avocado, Homemade Chili, Applewood Smoke Bacon). Well worth $14 when you consider the amount of stuff you are getting on top of it. The Mrs. and I weren’t that hungry so we just settled for cheese burgers with a little extra.

Take at the look at the pictures above of our burgers. There is no way to truthfully explain how great these burgers were other than to say think of how awesome they look at multiply that by ten and that is how great they were. The ingredients were great and the 100% fresh ground Angus patty was perfectly cooked to our preference (mine medium rare and her’s medium well) yet both were juicy. Juicy to the point that the bun soaked it up and made it a little messy, but overall the burger was still manageable. And let us not forget the sides!

G Burger Red Onion Rings
G Burger Red Onion Rings

What you are seeing above are freshly made red onion rings. You know how most places you get rings like this and when you bite into them the onion pulls out, that doesn’t happen here, you can actually bite the onion and still eat the rest of the ring normally. The breading is a seasoned cracker meal batter and the rings are probably some of the best I’ve had, I’d go here just for their rings.

G Burger Sweet Potato Fries

Sweet Potato fries are solid and were cooked perfectly. They are served with chipotle ranch or something like that.

The burger making process was a bit slow, but there are lots of things that factor into that, one of the orders before us was for 8 burgers and another has 3 “G” Burgers, any place that has only one grill is going to slow down when they have a large order.  At the end of the day, the wait was well worth burger perfection.

G Burger serves one of the best hamburgers we  have ever had since starting Eat in OC.
