I’m very fortunate to have both a Philly’s Best down the street from my house in Orange, as well as a Philly’s Best down the street from my office in Anaheim. I even think to myself sometimes that I’m the luckiest man in the world that I have a loving wife and two Philly’s Bests so close (there is also one down the street from my other office in Garden Grove!). I’ve praised the PB in Santa Ana on more then one occasion and now it’s time for me to praise the PB in Placentia as well.
There is usually only one thing I order at Philly’s Best, and that is a Cheesesteak, sometimes with onions sometimes without. One funny thing, usually when I order it without onions I get onion rings on the side instead. I wish they’d not charge me for them, since I’m just getting my onions a different way; that’s how it works right? I’m always happy when I get my Cheesesteak, the meat is lean and just juicy enough to give the bread some extra flavoring. And the cheese perfectly drapes over the meat and bread. For me it’s just about the perfect sandwich. The onion rings are aren’t made fresh but they are good quality beer batter rings that are thick and hold up to dipping into ranch dressing. I do wish they had BBQ Sauce, but I’m content with the Ken’s ranch dressing.
Service is always good, but it’s just counter service so there isn’t much to expect. Funny thing one of the guys that used to be a cook in Santa Ana is now working here instead, even though they have different owners. The Placentia owner also told me that he’s hoping to buy the Santa Ana store someday. Regardless I’m happy that there are so many Philly’s Bests near where I tend to be, it just about makes life perfect.
Various visits monthly usually on Fridays for the last 2 years.
