I’m always on the look out for places that serve top-notch sandwiches and Roscoe’s Famous Deli in Fullerton (in the heart of the SoCo District…) was my next stop on the sandwich train. First off I want to state that I love design and decorations throughout the restaurant, I’m a big fan of antique advertising and the reuse of old signs.
By the way, does anyone know what game this is? I think it’s a type of dart board, I’d really love to get my hands on something like this for my house.
I ordered the Pastrami Ruben, which was piled high with shredded pastrami… I don’t know of any other restaurants that serve their pastrami shredded but after trying it this way it should be a crime to serve it any other way. My only issue with the sandwich is that the bread doesn’t hold up, it’s too soft for such a sandwich, they need to find some better rye.
Unfortunately the cole slaw left a lot to be desired, it was dry and had little to any dressing, hopefully the other salads (Potato, Macaroni, and Pasta) are better.
Overall the meal was a success, because let’s face it the sandwich is the star. The sandwich filled me up enough that I didn’t really care about the lifeless cole slaw. I’m looking forward to trying many more sandwiches here.
