For those of you following at home, I love pastrami, especially hot pastrami, so when I heard Bruxie in Orange was serving a Hot Pastrami Bruxie I knew I had to eventually get down there and try it. I finally got my chance last weekend while Mrs. DanGarion was busy making money for me to spend on food to do reviews.
The Hot Pastrami Bruxie comes with Boar’s Head Pastrami, Gruyere, Spicy Brown Mustard, Cider Slaw and Half Sour Pickle. ($7.95 I think), just didn’t do it for me, I went in wanting to love it but ended up underwhelmed, maybe it was because the waffle seemed just a bit undercooked and started falling apart before I was halfway into it? It was either that or I just thought it was too salty or vinegary, I still can’t exactly figure out why it didn’t wow me. Fortunately there are many more waffle sandwiches I can have such as my favorite the Buttermilk Fried Chicken and Waffle (just remember to get the maple syrup!).
Even though others think the Waffle Fries are just ho-hum, I’ve found the secret to making them awesome, ask for a side of their whole grain mustard (not pictured) and be amazed.
