Orange, California Restaurant Reviews

Villa Nova – Newport Beach

I went here for the first time last night and I was very impressed. After reading some of the reviews I was ready to get ripped off with overpriced plates of average Italian food. But when I opened up the menu and saw the pasta dish prices starting at $12.95 it made me wonder what exactly those that complained about the price were smoking and if I could have a toke off of it (highest prices were in the low 30’s but most everything was 13-30 range). Granted it’s a buck or two more expensive than Olive Garden, but I’m not being served by 16 year olds that don’t know the difference from a Merlot to a Port if the bottle hit them on the head. The wait staff was terrific and the one issue we had with our order when it was brought to our table was fixed quickly (someone ordered a side of spaghetti but got mashed potatoes instead).

And then there is the view! Most people pay a premium for a view like the one you get here. This is the place you take your first date, then when you ask her to marry, and then on your anniversary, it’s that beautiful.

Is it the best food in Orange County? No. Is it the best deal in Orange County? No. But if you add it all up, this is a 4+ star establishment that everyone needs visit at least once, if not more.
