So my work sent me to Austin Texas for the week, fortunately my nights were free, which allowed me to check out some great Austin area establishments.<\/p>\n

Black's Barbecue Brontosaurus Beef Rib<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

First we went to The Salt Lick<\/a> in Round Rock<\/a>, TX.\u00a0 Had the family style meal, which came with beef, sausage , and pork ribs, served with potato salad, cole slaw, beans, bread, pickles, and onions ($18.95 per person).\u00a0 Everything was really good, their BBQ sauce had a sort of brown gravy color.<\/p>\n

The next night 11 of us traveled 36 miles South from where we were staying to Black’s Barbecue<\/a> in Lockhart<\/a>, Texas.\u00a0 Black’s is Texas’ oldest barbecue restaurant continuously owned and operated by the Black family (Established in 1932!)\u00a0 The food and hospitality at Black’s was second to none, went Kent Black found out some of our party was from California he offered to take us for a tour of the pit!\u00a0 Check out my pictures and drool over the “Brontosaurus beef rib”.<\/p>\n\n

For our last night in Austin I was determined to check out recent Great Food Truck Race participant, Austin Daily Press<\/a>.\u00a0 I had both a Pastrami and Turkey Bacon, with the Pastrami being the best.\u00a0 My coworkers enjoyed the Gyro with Tabasco tzatziki.\u00a0 What I really liked about their pressed sandwiches was the perfect crunchiness of the bread they use (bolillio rolls).<\/p>\n

Overall it was a great trip filled with great food.\u00a0 Next stop for work is Charlotte, North Carolina.\u00a0 If anyone has suggestions on what to check out while I’m there, please let me know.\u00a0 All I’m sure of so far is that I’m looking forward to checking out North Carolina style Barbecue!<\/p>\n
