What is a visit to Texas without checking out their claim to fame fast food burger national treasure Whataburger!? Being that I have only been to the wonderful state of Texas two times prior to this visit I had yet to try Whataburger but I made it a priority that I check them out and see what makes Whataburger different from all the rest. I went with what I consider the old tried and true, a double meat Whataburger with cheese and no onions, along with a side order of onion rings. What I was presented with was a burger unlike most of those you get in Southern California. The bun was huge and there were no sesame seeds to be found. Under the toasted bun they kept it simple, mustard, lettuce, tomato, pickles, and cheese.<\/p>\n

The onion rings were probably best I’ve had ever from a chain fast food restaurant, which is saying a lot.<\/p>\n

Lastly I’d like to commend Whataburger and all the other amazing restaurants in Austin, Texas that not only have Diet Dr. Pepper on the soda fountain but they actually know how to make the machines work with it and are able to make it taste like it is supposed to. I’m very frustrated with the poor quality of Diet Dr. Pepper that we can find in Southern California in soda fountains, and I wish whoever is in charge of fixing the issue would get their head out of their ass and head to Texas to see how it’s done.<\/p>\n\n
