Last week, Mrs. DanGarion and I were cordially invited to a special event at Knott’s Berry Farm<\/a> in Buena Park. It had been years since we’ve been to Knott’s for anything other than Knott’s Scary Farm<\/a>, so we jumped on the invitation to try out some of their new food. Considering our experience with amusement park food the past ten years has been the “food” they serve at Disneyland we weren’t really expecting much…<\/p>\n

Boy were we wrong.<\/p>\n

We started off our night of deliciousness with beer. But not just any beer, this was beer made from local Anaheim Microbrewery Noble Ale Works<\/a>. I stuck with the Breakaway Pale Ale throughout the night (although I did finish the night off with a Boysenberry Punch!.<\/p>\n

Our first taste of the night was the best, and by saying this I’m not discounting the other food we had, since actually most of it was quite good, it just so happens that the Flank Steak Sandwich that is served at the Fireman’s Brigade BBQ in Ghost Town, is probably the best non dessert food item I’ve ever had at an amusement park. Marinated for 24 hours and served on a housemade jalapeno cheddar roll, this is something that both myself and Mrs. DanGarion agreed we would order again and enjoy ever last bite.<\/p>\n

Also at Fireman’s Brigade BBQ is their slow cooked ribs, although I didn’t check for a smoke ring it says they smoke these for 11 hours, that’s quite a long time to smoke ribs from my experience, but nonetheless they were pretty good.<\/p>\n

The last meal type item I tried was the Coasters Cheeserburger served at Coasters which is located next to Xcelerator<\/a> on the Boardwalk. I wasn’t expecting to get a full-sized burger at a tasting even, but that is exactly what I got. Now my experience with burgers at amusement parks starts and ends at the atrocity of a thing they call a burger at Disneyland over in Tomorrow land, it’s probably the worst burger I’d ever ate. If you have had that burger you probably agree. I want you to forget everything about that and list to me. The Coaster Cheeseburger is good, actually it’s really good. It’s not a top 10, and it’s not going to be memorable, but you won’t be disappointed if you order it. My favorite part of the burger was the crunchy jalapeno chips on it. I wish I could order every burger with those on them, but alas they are only at Knott’s Berry Farm.<\/p>\n

That’s it! That’s all the meal food I ate. But in addition to what we tried Knott’s has been working on improving their menu throughout the park. They have veggie wrap sandwiches, gluten-free pizza, sandwiches, poke, Mrs. Knott’s FAMOUS Fried Chicken. Griffin from Griffin Eats OC<\/a> had the chicken pot pie and wanted to take a bunch of them home in his wife’s purse, I’m not sure how that worked out…<\/p>\n

My last food for the night were two things that are required elements to a great day at Knott’s Berry Farm, Boysenberry Pie (not pictured) and a Funnel Cake topped with boysenberry topping and soft serve ice cream. Not much I can say about this stuff other than it’s awesome. You have to get one or the other when you come to Knott’s, actually let me take that back you have to get BOTH!<\/p>\n

At the end of it all, we had a good night of food and Mrs. DanGarion got to ride on Ghost Rider, which is something she hadn’t done yet, she loved it. We finished the night off on the Sky Cabin looking out over Orange County.<\/p>\n

Next time you are at Knott’s Berry Farm, don’t worry about the food, they are doing a good job and you should be able to find something everyone will enjoy.<\/p>\n
