{"id":747,"date":"2009-05-29T13:12:20","date_gmt":"2009-05-29T20:12:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/eatinoc.com\/?p=747"},"modified":"2009-05-29T13:12:20","modified_gmt":"2009-05-29T20:12:20","slug":"jersey-mikes-brea","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/inocnetwork.com\/eatinorange\/oc-food-reviews\/jersey-mikes-brea\/","title":{"rendered":"Jersey Mike&#8217;s &#8211; Brea"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A lot of hoopla went around a couple weeks ago with the opening of Jersey Mike&#8217;s in Brea so I decided to see what all the fuss was about after the fan fare of the grand opening had subsided.\u00a0 Jersey Mike&#8217;s is a franchise that has been around for years, with the first Jersey Mike&#8217;s opening in 1956 in New Jersey and now over 300 locations nationwide!\u00a0 Mike&#8217;s is predominately located on the East Coast with only recently opening in California the past couple years.\u00a0 Quality wise they are above just about anything Subway, Quiznos, and even Togo&#8217;s puts on the plate.\u00a0 I would most compare Mike&#8217;s to that of the local deli, with fresh sliced meats and cheeses to go along with store cooked bread.<a class=\"thickbox\" title=\"Jersey Mike's - Slicing the Meat\" href=\"http:\/\/eatinoc.com\/wp-content\/gallery\/jersey-mikes\/img_0451.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-right\" src=\"http:\/\/eatinoc.com\/wp-content\/gallery\/jersey-mikes\/thumbs\/thumbs_img_0451.jpg\" alt=\"img_0451.jpg\" \/><\/a>\u00a0\u00a0Their menu rages from wraps, cold subs, hot subs, and salads.<\/p>\n<p>Being that this was my first visit I decided to take it simple and order something I would order anywhere else, the #8 Club Sub ($7.75 for regular size) which consists of turkey, ham, provolone, bacon, mayo.\u00a0 The sub had just about the right amount of everything on it, 3 thin slices of provolone, about 5 ham and 4 turkey (or maybe it was 5 turkey I was distracted as I talked to the owner), then piled with green lettuce (I stress this because I&#8217;m so used to seeing predominately white lettuce at many sub shops), tomatoes, vinegar, olive oil, spices, and my added choice of banana peppers, mayo and bacon.\u00a0 It reminded me a lot of subs I used to get at the Sub Stop over in my hometown of Stanton, so it really hit the spot and filled something I&#8217;ve been missing.\u00a0 Along with the sub I got some Mrs. Vickie&#8217;s chips and a soda which brought my lunch up to right around $10.00, before tax, which isn&#8217;t cheap when you compare it to Subway but this isn&#8217;t the crap they try to pass off as fresh.<a class=\"thickbox\" title=\"Jersey Mike's - The Finished Product\" href=\"http:\/\/eatinoc.com\/wp-content\/gallery\/jersey-mikes\/img_0456.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-right\" src=\"http:\/\/eatinoc.com\/wp-content\/gallery\/jersey-mikes\/thumbs\/thumbs_img_0456.jpg\" alt=\"img_0456.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Overall I was satisfied with my meal, I would go there again, and I already know what I will get on my next visit, the #20 Grilled Pastrami Reuben, and then after that I&#8217;ll have to try one of the cheesesteaks and see how to hold up compared to Philly&#8217;s Best.<\/p>\n\n<p>[xrr rating=3\/5]<\/p>\n<p>Jersey Mike&#8217;s<br \/>\n955 E.
