I went my wife there for lunch on a Monday. We arrived at 12:05 PM, put it out order at 12:10 PM, and at 12:50 PM we told the waitress we wanted to eat our food we ordered and walked out. That’s right we never got our order after waiting nearly 45 minutes. The slow service seems to be something that most people are experiencing. \u00a0I’m not sure if they lost our order or what, because at least 5 parties that sat and ordered after us got their food while we waited for ours. No one ever checked on us about our order (and we were sitting right in the middle of the place). And when I told the waitress we were leaving, she just kind of said, ok. Extremely very slight chance we will ever return since an experience like that usually just makes my wife say no to ever going back to a place.<\/p>\n

Yesterday in the middle of my work day I headed down to Old Towne Orange to have breakfast for lunch at Kimmie’s Coffee Cup.\u00a0 Now this is the third Kimmie’s Coffee Cup, (other locations are in Brea and Fullerton) but my first visit to any of the locations.\u00a0 Our usual breakfast spots in Orange (where we live) are Arthur’s Coffee Shop and The Filling Station, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t room for another breakfast standby for our weekends.\u00a0 Kimmie’s definitely has the food that we are looking for in a breakfast, typical home style breakfasts with eggs, hash browns and your choice of breakfast meats, nothing too out of the ordinary.<\/p>\n

Inside Kimmie’s looks like the typical middle America family coffee shop, be it maybe a little too polished and bright to what I’m used to, but that’s not really a something to ding them on.\u00a0 I’m impressed that they didn’t really have to change much of the design from what Mustard’s Cafe (the previous tenant) had, they just replaced one of counters with a seating counter, and brightened up the wall colors.\u00a0 It looks a lot like someones kitchen, which is the look I think they were going for.<\/p>\n

Being it was my first visit I wanted to try something that they specialize in, so I ordered the Country Style Patty and Eggs ($8.45), along with that you get your choice of hash browns, red skin potatoes or fruit, and you choice of biscuits and gravy or toast.\u00a0 I went with the hash browns and the biscuits and gravy.\u00a0 The country-style patty is a homemade patty sausage that they have developed themselves, it was the highlight of the meal, cooked just the way I like it crisp on the outside but moist on the inside, some might consider it overcooked because of the outside crust but I think it was perfect like this.\u00a0 The eggs and hash browns were just the typical fare, nothing out of the ordinary.\u00a0 The biscuits and gravy were average when comparing it to those I’ve had at other places.\u00a0 The biscuits had a slight stickiness to them, but they cut up perfect and held up to their gravy dipping.\u00a0 I was slightly disappointed that they didn’t have eggs Florentine on the menu since it’s one of the favorite things to order for breakfast, but they did have an Irish Benedict that I’m going to have to try, so I’ll give them a pass.\u00a0 The serve Pepsi which bummed me out, since I’m a Diet Coke fiend, but I can deal with Diet Pepsi if I have to.<\/p>\n

Before I talk about the service I wanted to mention that every single waitress that was working their was blond, I’m not sure if Kimmie just clones them or what, but everyone is a shade of blond, even Kimmie’ herself!\u00a0 The service was good, the waitress I had checked on me throughout my meal and 2 or 3 of the girls working there gave me drink refills.\u00a0 The food making process was a little slow, but I think that’s just because the cooks are still getting used to the setup of the kitchen, I would expect things to improve as they get more comfortable with everything.<\/p>\n
