You aren’t going to find this sandwich on the menu at Arthur’s Family Restaurant in Orange, but if you ask nicely you’ll be able to get this awesome Pastrami Reuben just like I did a couple of days ago.
When looking at their menu you will see both a corned beef and pastrami sandwich, but unfortunately you won’t see the glorious pastrami reuben listed. Gone is the pastrami reuben, just like the great greasy spoon dinners of Arthur’s past (they stopped serving dinner about 6 months ago). But you can still get this awesome sandwich because they still have all the necessary ingredients, pastrami, Swiss Cheese, 1000 island dressing (or mustard), and sauerkraut. Just make sure you ask for the bread to be toasted and then be prepared to have the butter grilled bread of a grilled cheese. I ordered my sandwich complete with freshly made cole slaw, that could probably have used some salting and draining to kill off the bitterness, but I still enjoyed it. Last but not least is the wonderful little cooking that is served with every lunch sandwich, split with Mrs. DanGarion since she didn’t get one with her breakfast. This is the best greasy spoon reuben in the county, you just have to know who to ask!
