Scottie’s Smokehouse – Orange (CLOSED)

Update: Scottie’s Smokehouse closed just days after I posted this review. No information is known as to if and when they will reopen.

You can take the DanGarion out of Texas but you can’t make me stay away from BBQ. I went to Scottie’s Smokehouse in Orange for Lunch last week and had this really good Sausage Hoagie Sandwich with Andouille sausage topped with cole slaw, their original BBQ sauce, and mustard. It really hit the spot. I wouldn’t go as far to say that Scottie’s sausage is as good as some of the best I’ve had in Austin, but it’s pretty damn well close to it.

Going to Scottie’s reminds me I need to go back for dinner and try their beef ribs, I’ve only had pork ribs, pulled pork, and brisket in the past.

Service was good but they were having some issues with short staffing, plus I think they recently changed from counter service to table service. I’d really love to get a place here in Orange County that was close to the experience you get in Texas with counter service combined with cafeteria style, it works great when people are trying to figure out what they want. I still remember the awesome cutting block table they have at Black’s BBQ that has been there for years and shows the wear from so many right-handed workers.
