Steakhouse 55 – Anaheim (Disneyland Hotel)

We ventured to Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim to check out Steakhouse 55 during the weekend of Mrs. DanGarion’s birthday to enjoy a steak dinner with some friends. The only thing I had heard about Steakhouse 55 at the time was that they had a chocolate cake that consisted of 24 layers, which I knew would be tops of my wife’s list to order.

Fresh baked bread is served to fill you up before your meal!

Being that I’m a big fan of onion soup I had to check out the Seven Onion Soup, Parmesan Crisp. The soup is served at the table, first they place this huge bowl that has the crisps in it in front of you and then they pour out the soup on top of the crisps. Considering the size of the bowl there really isn’t much soup, but it’s one of the better onion soups I have had and I especially liked that it wasn’t too salty.

Everyone had steak, 3 of us feasted on our 18 ounce rib eyes, while the birthday girl devoured her 12 ounce New York Strip. Here is a picture of my rib eye. All of our medium rare steaks were cooked to perfection just as they should be.

Along with our steaks we ordered a couple of sides, due to time constraints (and that my phone was running on fumes) I only got a picture of the potatoes that we ordered. In addition to them we also ordered the Sautéed Green Beans with Applewood-Smoked Bacon. Of the two the green beans won the battle of the best, while the potatoes were a bit bland.

And last but not least came the 24 Layer Cake. Twenty-four alternating layers of what we think were a couple different types of chocolate cake (we thought we tasted a mint layer) along with filling. It really is a sight to be seen, and it’s pretty damn good.

Service was really good, not quite up to par with Morton’s but better than we have received from Ruth’s Chris and Mastro’s. At the end of the meal we all agreed that this was probably one of the best meals we have had at Disneyland (it’s actually at the hotel, but close enough). Which is really saying a lot because Mrs. DanGarion and I have been burned time and time again with terrible food at Disneyland. We would definitely go here again.
