Brunch at The Playground

I’m not going to write too much about this since I wasn’t going to The Playground in Santa Ana with the intention of reviewing the food at this time. I was there to the enjoy the company of other foodies and to talk with the owner and my fellow contributors at Local Cuisine. But I couldn’t go to Jason Quinn’s (formerly of the Lime Truck) baby without taking some pictures and providing a little bit of information.

Lots of different dishes were tried, basically everything on the brunch menu. Winners of the morning for me where the Breakfast Hash ($9 benton’s country ham/ sweet potato/ Brussel sprouts/ hollandaise/ fried egg), the Wild Boar Belly ($14 maple hollandaise/ white beans/ egg), and the amazing Allen Benton’s Country Ham, served with Toast that had mashed tomato on it, so simple yet so good.

Jason came out a couple of times and talked with us, seems like a really nice genuine guy, nothing at all like he was on the Great Food Truck Race. He’s very passionate about hit food and wants to share it with others, while also still wanting feedback on what they can do to improve it. His passion for great food makes it that much better.
